We were lucky enough to have Mel join the team in April 2007. Mel was born and bred into farming near Dannevirke. With practical farming knowledge, a Business & Valuation degree from Massey and a background in rural valuation and agribusiness, Mel is a great asset to the team. As editor of both Market Insight and Market Outlook, Mel is really making her mark and has developed a great understanding of the markets. Mel lives with her young family near Waipukurau where her husband Anton manages a sheep & beef operation.
Suz started with iFarm at grass roots level in 2009 weighing lambs at Stortford Lodge and is now a familiar face down in the sheep pens each Wednesday. But that was just the beginning of her talents as Suz has gone on to established herself as a key member of the team. With Tracey going on maternity leave, Suz then took on the role of LivestockEye Editor producing the reports every week. And later in 2010 Suz again stepped up to the position of Operations Manager – co-ordinating our team of 17 LivestockEye saleyard staff based throughout the country. Suz is a Hawkes Bay farm girl born and bred and now lives as 3rd generation farmers on their family farm in Hawkes Bay with husband Campbell and their son Jack. After attending Massey University and gaining a Bachelor of Business studies majoring in Agribusiness and managing the infamous Fitz Bar in Palmy, Suz headed back to the family farm to take over the reins from her father, managing it for 8 years. Suz's background, practical know-how and can-do attitude are ideal for her growing role at iFarm.
Tracey came on board in 2008 and took on the role of editor in chief of LivestockEye. Tracey is now a key member of our team of analysts with roles in Insight, Outlook and LivestockEye reports. Tracey is also leading the charge on our mission to take our saleyard reporting to the next level. Her drive to get stuck in and make it happen is invaluable here. Tracey grew up on the family sheep & beef farm in Gisborne before arming herself with an agricultural based science degree from Lincoln University. Tracey has had a good range of science and agricultural roles during her career and has developed a skill set that makes her an ideal addition to our team. Tracey lives with her hushand Ben and daughter Maddie on the outskirts of Hastings.
Michaela joined the iFarm team at the end of 2010 and really hit the ground running. She very quickly and effectively established herself in the role of Market Insight Editor and is now an intergral part of the iFarm team. Michaela grew up on a sheep and beef farm near Wairoa, and has lived on farms the majority of her life. She spent time at the University of Otago and then later at Massey, completing a double degree in Science and Finance. Michaela went onto work at NZX, then Agrifax, where she gained a solid grounding in the agricultural markets. She then worked in rural recruitment before heading overseas for a season in the Northern Territory contract mustering and a stint shoeing horses in Montana, USA. Michaela currently lives with her partner on a sheep and beef station in the Wairarapa.
